I was in charge of StarTalkโ€™s Facebook channel for more than one year. Our main tasks were to adapt their YouTube podcasts and episodes into shorter and more digestible content for Facebook.
My team was in charge of the entire process of post-production, as well as scheduling, posting, performance analysis, strategies and revenue.

"Don't get Neil started on water towers" was the perfect hook for this video's storytelling.
Since Facebook video ad-breaks typically appeared around 0:55 - 1:00 for videos of this length, Chuck's question at that moment created an ideal hook.
In Startalk videos, Chuck serves as the perfect counterpart to Neil by embodying the audience's perspective.
This particular edit condenses a very long podcast episode into a very digestible knowledge nugget.

The reason why this video worked in particular was the stark contrast between the tagline and the knowledge we already have.
Starting with the fact that no, the Everest is not really the tallest mountain on the planet, was the perfect way to build the suspense and keep the audience hooked in the first minute.

Video edited by me โœ‹ and used in a workshop to show my editors about attention management in editing.
Besides usual editing, also added a little sprinkle of sound bites and motion into the mix.
